Well it’s been a while since I last posted but when I heard England were playing in the world cup last week I naturallybooked the next flight to South Africa and flew out with nothing but my football boots and goalkeeping gloves (just in case they stuck me in goal) all ready for the game with the septics, in the end they’d already picked the squad without even telling me (can you believe it???) and simply refused to give me a game. Bloody ridiculous if you ask me, I never get this problem at the Olympics.
Anyway, I’m in Taiwan right now and here’s something interesting I noticed in our office:
Notice anything unusual? Hold on, let me take the phone off the hook:
Hello, what’s this??? A teabag???? And here’s another:
And another (yes this is REALLY a different phone from above).
What’s more, this might not be any old tea, there’s a box full of twinings earl grey on the shelf above the phone in my colleagues office and that’s the only tea I can see in the office…..
Someone put me straight, what’s all this about???? Is it just to get the smell of tea while speaking on the phone? (why not just make a cup of tea??) or does telephone conversation somehow enhance the flavour of teabags (i.e. you chat through it for an hour or so then make the most fantastic cup of tea ever??)
Anyway, I’m not a tea man, I’m going to spoon some coffee granules all over my phone overnight to see what happens.
UPDATE:
I sprinkled some coffee granules, as I like it with milk (powdered thankfully in this case) and sugar and left it overnight. Unfortunately I didn’t manage to have a conversation through it as I couldn’t select any numbers on the phone (the screen was all covered up) and nobody rang me. This morning I made a brew with the granules and it tasted frankly ordinary (although free hotel coffee generally does….).
My phone does reek of crap coffee though..
