Say it With Apples!

What better way to send a message to someone you love (or hate) than with one of these splendid apples I saw at a fruit shop yesterday. I’ve got no idea what the Chinese message is (ok, Hua did actually tell me but I completely forgot) but I’m reading the English bit loud and clear.

I might have got it all wrong though, it might be a reference to the mid 1980′s thrash metal band called Stormtroopers Of Death, their name was often shortened to SOD…

sure, the wordpress website is blocked, and if you host there you can’t access in China. If you host on your own site though you’re fine.

I protest.

1 . I rarely wear a baseball cap, unless I’m playing baseball. Which I wasn’t
2. It’s not an American accent, its a Californian accent.
3. I was going to say hi, but it would’ve weirded out my friend – oh, I’m going to say hi to this random guy whose blog I read on the internets.

thanks M.M. the california english entry says the following:

“California English is similar to most other forms of American speech in being a rhotic accent, which is historically a significant marker in differentiating different English varieties”

Ok, so basically it says that you differentiate english varieties on whether or not they are rhotic, and based on this it’s not possible to differentiate Californian from American, so basically they’re the same!

did you see the phonology bits? thats where it differs with almost any english accent… not all american accents are rhotic either btw
