I’m in sunny Blackpool right now with work and I’ve just had to change hotels for the first time ever.

I checked into my room at one of the large, multinational hotels on the front on Sunday evening, all was going well enough, although the hotel is very tired and noisy (the pipes in the wall vibrate loudly every time someone upstairs use water and there was a party going on next door) until I went to the toilet. As I reached for the toilet roll I accidentally knocked it off the dispenser and saw this as I reached down to pick it up:

The whole thing was smeared with the previous tenant’s crap! So, first thing in the morning (I was too tired to do anything that night) I was straight onto tripadvidsor and came up with The Big Blue at the Pleasure Beach as an alternative. Now, let me tell you, the Pleasure Beach is normally somewhere I’d steer well clear of, especially for a hotel, but we’re out of season now so it’s all closed down and I’m really glad I took the risk.

The Big Blue is not only cheaper than the other place (by 40%) but it’s MUCH MUCH nicer, it’s basically a boutique hotel, oh, and internet is free (15 quid at the other place), thinking about it, it’s one of the cosiest hotel rooms I’ve stopped in anywhere. My room has got a double bed, lcd TV, dvd player, an inbuilt electric fire, a proper deep bath! For the first time in my life I actually feel comfortable spending time in my hotel in blackpool, normally I try to spend every waking minute somewhere else!
