Well, I still haven’t got round to writing anything about Christmas, I’m staying with my sister, my two year old niece doesn’t allow me a spare five minutes to sit down and write anything, but I’m up extra early this morning and just read an article on BBC News which got me going.

Apparently they’re going to start culling wolves again (Tengger will be livid!), they’ve just got too many and they’re losing livestock. The story goes on to say how 10,000 hunters are expected to take part in the cull which will go on from the 2nd Jan to the middle of February.

Wow, 10,000 hunters over six weeks, that’s a lot of wolves right? I mean, they’re all going to bag a few each on a hunting trip aren’t they? ok, maybe a few of them will be unlucky and come home empty handed on a particular day, but anyway we must be looking at them killing 40-50,000 wolves or something over the six week period????

No, the Swedish government wants to remove a grand total of 27 wolves….. I mean, how bad can they be that it takes 10,000 hunters six weeks to kill 27 animals, I mean surely even 10,000 Dick Cheneys could manage 27 wolves (along with 700 hunting companions)???? What’s more, the head of their hunting association, a Mr Gloersson thinks that 27 might even be a stretch, “if we don’t have snow I don’t think we’ll even be able to reach the quota of 27″ he said.

Ok, maybe they’re not all that bad, the latest update according to BBC is that half of the total have already been shot on the first day and that a further five have been injured, do they count as half kills?
