Starbucks Wrongness

I don’t know what everyone else thinks about the food at Starbucks in China but personally I’ve always found it very disappointing, their scones are stale, the sandwiches are unimaginative, of low standard and overpriced.

I went there this morning for coffee and a bite to eat (it’s the only place for coffee near my apartment, I can bear it every now and again) and took a look to see what new delights they had to offer, nothing prepared me for what I was about to see.

It’s difficult to make out from the photo but what you’re looking at is basically a sandwich with chunks of kiwi fruit and melon (and something white, lychee? banana? apple?) with mayonnaise holding it all together.

If anyone who reads this knows the guy at starbucks china who came up with this idea I suggest you do him an extreme personal disservice before the day is out.

Pretty much a waldorf sandwich though if you think about it, minus the walnuts. And with different fruit. Probably quite good if you’d given it chance, instead of publicly ridiculing it.

I so agree about the yucky fruit/mayo sandwich. Some things were just never meant to be!

I am against this and all it stands for- a fruit sandwich? This is how nazi Germany started.

In its favour though, Starbucks recently brought back the double chocolate muffin. One of them and an ice coffee is a smashing afternoon snack between brunch and an early lunch.

I feel offended. You cant compare that to the start of Nazi Germany. Everyone knows we used mustard instead of mayonaise in our fruit sandwiches.

THe tuna sandwich at Starbucks is surprisingly good. And that’s really about it on the eating end.

You know, I’ve seen the tuna sandwich and considered it a few times but never actually gone for it.

Go for it. If it is not to your expectations, then i will gladly refund your 23 kuai. And I have nothing to do with Starbucks, but I feel a need to turn people onto this emergency lunch possiblity.

I had dinner at the restaurant near the Bund Centre a couple of days ago and they actually gave us a plate full of fruits (kiwi, water melon, banana, tomatoes etc) drowned in mayonnaise for dessert.
And our chinese guest were just complaining that it wasnt properly mixed but they ate it nevertheless.
