I just heard from some of my colleagues in the UK.

They recently returned from a business trip to Germany for some meeting or other where they stopped in a delightful hotel and enjoyed a delicious meal and were kind enough to share a copy of the receipt with me (I’m quite jealous, zwiebelroastbraten is one of my favourites!).

Not sure if it’s just this hotel or the whole of Germany but they very kindly print the name of the waiter on the receipt

That’s too funny! I don’t think it’s a coincident as I have taken a photo of a tour bus that says FUCKER on it! I think it’s a common name just not pronounced the same way as we are reading it.

I did German at school and got an F (the lowest possible mark above fail). These days if I try to think in German I get all mixed up between Chinese and German, all like “wo xihuan fussball”.

I only speak two languages now, English and Foreign.

To get a German pronounciation, you could replace the “u” with “oo” (like in football). Something like Foocker, but with a short “oo” and a sharp k.

My best mate did a year of college in Austria and while at some kind of tourist spot went up to the tour guide dude and asked where something was and whatever it was the word for it was very similar to the german word for “cock.” He freaked out and blushed profusely and it wasn’t until later that she realized she was asking to see his cock.

on one of my first trips to shanghai I’d learnt a bit of chinese and I was at dinner with customers and they asked me if I would like a chinese girlfriend, “no” I replied “wo yao ji” (meaning I want several), they all gasped and looked shocked.
Unfortunately I didn’t realise I needed to put a “ge” at the end to make it “several”, I’d basically said I wanted a whore (ji = chicken = whore)
