Well, there’s at least three different types. Blue Rays on a Blue Ray disk cost over 100 rmb, then there are blue rays compressed down to fit on a DVDR (still look good though) for 48rmb, then there are blue rays on a DVDR which are “optimised for PS3″ which my local game shop sells for around 23rmb.

The 48 rmb ones don’t work if you have a recently updated PS3, they used to but the recent update blocked these.

They’re all a bit of a rip-off, especially the ones on DVD-R, they shouldn’t cost any more than your standard DVDs (it doesn’t cost them any more to produce).

Oh, the cheapest ones tend to have a lot of faults (see above), I had to return 10-20% of the ones I bought.

Oh we didn’t change it for the same one, they were all like that! We changed it for DeathRace which was only marginally better than Basic Instinct.

Hmmm maybe you need to reenact the scene but I’m pretty sure I’m right here. I’ve seen that series and more specifically that scene probably 25 times.

Woai, it’s actually a game shop near my apartment, yes, customer service was never a strong point at games shops anywhere. Actually the staff in the evening are normally quite pleasant, but anyway..

Blimey Dingle where do you buy your DVDs from? At Dagu, firstly they’d TELL YOU if the ending was missing before taking your money and they’d change it no questions asked if you returned it.

Update! H took it back to the shop today and got in a massive row with the shop staff.

They couldn’t believe we would want to change it, “yes” they said, “all the copies are like that, nobody has the ending”
“But it’s useless, the ending is missing where you find out if she was the murderer” says H
“I’ll tell you how it ends, she is the killer, you don’t need to change it for a different movie, it’s only a few seconds missing”

etc etc etc.. until they finally gave in and let her change it.

Anyway, the outcome is that I’m banned from shopping there ever again, (real forever)
